What Does The Custom Order Process Look Like? A Real Example

I have a breakdown of the process in writing HERE, but I wanted to show you in practice what the custom order process looks like.

I will use an example of a lovely client of mine who frequently puts her trust in my craftsmanship and gives me the opportunity to create very sentimental pieces for her.

I will include screen captures from our conversation from Instagram, and add context.

I had accepted her custom request and we went over the pricing. Keep in mind this conversation take can take anywhere from a few minutes to days spread apart.

I ask questions to better understand what it is I am working with, and the following part is me asking for photos and size references.

She wanted to add a tiny gemstone to the middle of the star, which was still early in the process and is a change that is easily made, so I showed her all the gemstones I have available of the perfect size for her to choose from.

As you can probably tell, they were videos too. I do my best to be as detailed and transparent as possible, because I know this is a very personal process and the results must be exceptional.

I then explained the types of stones that were available.

To make her vision come to life I asked for a sketch so I can then print it and make it part of the ring.

Again, lots of details, lots of questions.

Sometimes you can trust the creator to do what's best

From there, we had some back and forth on the size, the flare, and other details of that specific project, that I will not be including because I think I already lost half of you by this point.

When the time came for me to flare the ring, I asked for clarification

I will send you some work in progress photos, unless you would like not to see it until the piece is done, in which case it is very important to let me know ahead of time. I often also share the projects I work on on social media, especially Instagram. This lovely client gave me permission to use our conversation as an example.

This was during the time I moved studios, and it was a bit more complicated project which combined took a little while to complete.

Once she was packaged and ready to go, I send a photo and videos beforehand for your approval.

The remaining amount of the project will be sent, and after the payment is received, the package goes out the next business day. I ship at no cost, fully covered by insurance via USPS priority mail within the U.S., which takes typically no more than 3 business days.

If you live outside of the U.S., please let me know ahead of time so we can discuss shipping. If you prefer another carrier such as UPS or FedEx, I'd be happy to go over those options with you as well.

I absolutely love it when I get photos of your pieces living and thriving alongside.

Some projects are simpler, where you can ask for a specific stone and know the design, and some are more complex, but any kind is welcome.

If you would like to start a project together, feel free to email me at halyna@hvjewelry.com or fill out the request form here

The reply from me will be an email from proton.me, until such time when I figure out how to use the actual email… please bear with me.
