Custom Order Info
Custom Jewelry
What is it?
A custom order can be anything from remaking one of my previous pieces (if similar gems available), or together coming up with a design. Although I will always suggest jewelry with gemstones that are a 7 and above on the Moh’s scale, however custom order is your land of imaginations and I won’t limit you.
I am happy to accept memorial jewelry requests and use hair, ashes, or other items to be made into a piece (within reason and upon approval).
Before We Begin
I need to know if you are located outside of the U.S. for shipping purposes and to make sure we cover the delivery, tax and any potential import fees.
I also need to know if you need additional time to make the deposit payment, if you have time restrictions/limitations to when the remaining portion can be paid (ex: the rest of the custom order can be paid in 3 months, need to wait for paychecks) and if you have a timeframe for the piece to be ready by (if this is a birthday gift or present for a holiday like Mother’s Day).
If the piece we are working on is a surprise and if sharing it on my social media channels or website will compromise the surprise. I need to know this right away so we don’t ruin it.
Disclaimer: sometimes gemstones can also become damaged during the making process. We can choose another one, or I can return your deposit, or apply it to another project to keep things fair.
How it Works
At any point in the custom process or prior to beginning one I am open to jumping on a video call for you, I think it is the best way to remain transparent and to easily answer any questions on the spot. This also gives us the chance to open ways of communication.
If you have an idea, a detailed image or even a concept of a piece of jewelry you can reach out. We can build a piece together or we can see if what you have in mind is something I can bring to life, or if it needs some adjustments, or even if I need to refer you to another jeweler for whatever reason. Whatever it takes to create it for you.
We will discuss the details of your piece. Sometimes it takes minutes, and sometimes a few days, depending on the design and level of detail. Previews can be a combination of photos of gems and hand/digital sketches.
Once we have decided on a project, I will send you an invoice for a deposit. I can do Etsy (offers Klarna pay in 4), PayPal, ShopPay, and they also all allow to split a payment (even the deposit) into 4 installments if needed. Zelle, Cash App and Venmo & Cash App could be options too upon request. Deposit will be anywhere from 25%-40% of the total amount. It is nonrefundable or exchangeable.
Deposit will be due after our discussion and agreeing on the project type. I may send you a detailed description of the project we discussed in writing, just to make sure I understand all the details and make sure I got the all right. We can communicate through social media messengers, email, I can give you a phone number to text me, or share the most convenient way for you and I’ll try to accommodate.
Once I start working on your piece I will keep in contact because many times questions arise that weren't thought of (a real example of this was asking my client which side she wanted the clasp of here bracelet on). I like to take photos and videos and post them on my website and social media channels. I can send them to you as well directly if you prefer.
Once piece is finished, I will send you photos and videos. Once you approve and everything looks great, I'll will send an invoice (or make a listing if need he above mentioned methods of payments) for the remaining amount that we discussed. Once the invoice is paid, your piece will go out the following working business day.
Why a Custom Piece?
Because they are special, especially as gifts. A custom piece not only is made with unique and precious materials but also includes the time you put in creating and working on it with me.
Big box stores are becoming very boring and predictable. Let your imagination run wild here. If you see a piece in my store that you love but just needs some tweaking or gemstone replacement (pink instead of blue, for example), or you want some tiny gems added to the sides, or make a thicker band, whatever it is, we can discuss these in a custom process.
I absolutely love working on something special.
My No’s and Don’ts
At this time I do not accept any types gemstones provided by clients. This may change in the future. Client provided gold/silver will be decided on case by case basis. Metals such as platinum, palladium, white gold, etc., I am not able to work with because they require special equipment which I don’t have at this moment. I hope to delete this section sooner than later and be able to offer you everything above, but in the mean time feel free to email me your questions at halyna@hvjewelry.com.
Returns/Refunds/Exchanges
Deposits/down-payments are 100% non-refundable or exchangeable.
None are applicable to custom orders. I am very thorough and have a comprehensive process when it comes to custom jewelry, therefore I am not able to return, refund or exchange something we worked on together. Here is an example of a real custom order. Everything is up to my discretion, and there may be exceptions. Email me at halyna@hvjewelry.com.
Timeframes
Really depends on the complexity of the piece, communications between us, if material sourcing is part of the project, my order queue, just to name a few. Fastest could be 2 days, and depending on the aforementioned circumstances could take several weeks.
Work typically only begins after the deposit has been paid.
